Dear Prospective Fellow,

Many thanks for your interest in becoming a Fellow of Westar Institute.

Westar Institute welcomes the participation of scholars with advanced academic degrees (Ph.D. or equivalent) in religious studies or related disciplines from accredited universities worldwide.

Let me say a few words about what it means to be a Westar Fellow. From the inception of the Jesus Seminar in 1985, it has been our expectation that Fellows will attend Westar meetings and participate in the discussion and present contributions, as appropriate, to Westar's scholarly projects. The distinctive culture of Westar's seminars depends upon Fellows taking active part in the conversation. To learn more about the Westar culture, we urge you to read the statement of Ethos & Protocols on this website.

Fellows who wish to participate fully are invited to join as Professional members. For information on the costs and benefits, .

The application to become a Westar Fellow consists of three steps:

  1. Filling in the blanks on the online application form and emailing it to Westar by clicking on the Send Email button. Your computer security may ask you to confirm your intention to send this email. If it does, simply agree by clicking yes.

  2. Sending a statement describing why you want to be a Westar Fellow to fellows@westarinstitute.org

  3. Sending an up-to-date CV to fellows@westarinstitute.org

Upon receipt of all of the relevant materials, your application will be forwarded for review to a credentials committee of your peers. Please do not hesitate to contact us at the address above if you do not hear back in a reasonable amount of time.

We look forward to hearing from you and welcoming you as a Westar Fellow.

Cordially,

Roy W. Hoover
Membership Secretary
